II INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON WHITE ARCHITECTURE

The Cátedra Blanca of Valencia has announced that the Second International Conference on White Architecture will be held at the Polytechnic University of Valencia on 23, 24 and 25 March 2006.

The Cátedra Blanca is the result of an agreement between the Polytechnic University of Valencia and the company CEMEX, whose main objectives are to study in depth and disseminate the use of white cement in architectural projects, and to provide eminently practical training for university students; as well as to establish a forum for the exchange of opinions and knowledge, and to bring future architecture professionals closer to the business world in general and the cement sector in particular.

White or coloured concrete is progressively evolving in contemporary architecture and is becoming an emerging material in the construction of public and private buildings.

The 2nd International Conference on White Architecture allowed for the public presentation of the best white or coloured concrete buildings of recent times, both in the form of invited papers and conference communications.

The participation of the Cátedra Blanca in the organisation of the conference ensured the collaboration of the cement multinational CEMEX, which provided support for the international dissemination of the event.

The planned biennial organisation of the International Conference on White Architecture allows for the creation, in its successive editions, of national and international catalogues of architecture built with white concrete, for which the corresponding lines of research have already been opened at the Polytechnic University of Valencia.
