KARAMUK KUO

Karamuk Kuo was established in 2010 by Jeannette Kuo and Ünal Karamuk. Operating at the intersection of spatial concepts and constructive technologies, they approach architecture from its most fundamental sources to craft integrated and ecological solutions. The office works on projects of a range of scales, from spatial installations to complex cultural and housing projects and have been published in numerous international journals including Archithese, Werk, Bau + Wohnen, Casabella, and Architectural Review. In 2018 they were featured in a monograph by El Croquis. Built projects include the International Sports Sciences Institute at the University of Lausanne, the Weiden Secondary School, and the Augusta Raurica Archaeological Center in Baselland, a project which won a Lafarge Holcim Prize for Sustainable Construction. In addition, both partners are committed to intellectual pursuits in design research and have been teaching since 2006 at various universities in the U.S. and Switzerland. Jeannette is currently Professor of Architecture and Construction at TU Munich and together with Ünal they are the Cullinan Visiting Chairs at Rice University.
